LAO OUD
Bortnikoff Lao Oud (2021) is a dark and intensely oud-driven fragrance that combines primal agarwood with rich cacao, aromatic coffee, warm spices, and sweet balsamic nuances. Pink pepper and magnolia create a bright and delicate opening, offering a brief floral lift before the deeper character of the composition begins to emerge. At its heart, beeswax, cinnamon, chamomile, Peru balsam, and cacao create a warm and richly textured accord, balancing soft sweetness with earthy, spicy, and resinous facets. As the fragrance settles, Laotian and Indian oud take center stage, revealing a deep, powerful, and distinctly animalic character, softened by creamy tonka bean and vanilla. Coffee adds a dark roasted bitterness, while guaiac wood, birch tar, and Terminalia elliptica bring smoky, leathery, and dry woody nuances to the base. Dense, primal, and remarkably complex, Lao Oud is a bold interpretation of natural oud, balancing animalic agarwood, dark cacao, bitter coffee, warm resins, and smoky woods with an almost hypnotic richness.
